We are humbled to announce that we were chosen as finalist, and later the winner of the Accessibility and Inclusion award at this year's Waikato Sport and Active Recreation Awards (2023)! We are so grateful for Sport Waikato providing the platform upon which we can share our kaupapa and thus advocate for inclusive dance education as a valuable tool for all tamariki! We also want to thank all the sponsors of these awards and the judges for their support! It means so much to us, because again, the more we share the more dance will be recoqnised as a developmental tool for all.
In 2023 we intentionally focussed on making dance accessible. After trying to rebuild after Covid rendered opperation... a creative challenge (cue endless floor mopping, masked dance breathing, zoom classes, and showcases at the gardens) and finally creating a sizable, sustainable, and connected community, we were finally equipt with time and resources to focus on generating systems that increased accessibility and strengthened inclusion.

In 2022 we were finalists in a different category (Community Connection) and we were stoked enough at that! It came completely as a surprise to win this year! In fact, Miss Amy said she let out a wee scream! Three of our team were availiable to accept the award and report that it was an incredible, exciting, and energizing night.
Huge thanks to our team for representing our whole dance whanau, our kaupapa, and our values at the awards and each week in class. Massive thanks to all our of dancers, and dance whanau for your support and for all you do to include others in class. It is you who inspires us!
